FRIENDS

Captain Jack Harkness

• Leader of Torchwood. Married to Ianto Jones. Has a painful past with Barty, and is still not-so-secretly in love with him. Resents the fact that Barty abandoned him and traveled into the past to marry Gilderoy Lockhart, who has the same physical appearance as Jack himself.

Ianto Jones

• Secretary-of-sorts for Torchwood. Jack’s husband. Has a somewhat flirty relationship with Barty, and Gilderoy especially. He was recently kidnapped and tortured by the Master, and has since become extremely depressed and clingy towards Jack, and very distant towards everyone else.

Grace Holloway

• A doctor Barty once met during his Eighth regeneration. Grace now works for UNIT as head of the medical department. She performed the surgery to remove nearly all of Barty’s second heart, allowing him to become mostly human and age properly alongside Gilderoy and Rose.

ENEMIES

The Master (deceased)

• Barty’s childhood friend on Gallifrey. Had a twisted, obsessive love/hate relationship with him, to the point that he tortured and raped Barty throughout most of his life, in an attempt to break him and prove just how much he ‘loved’ him. After Barty escaped to the Wizarding World with Gilderoy, the Master purposefully regenerated and took on Barty’s exact appearance. He then created an Anti-Werewolf organization called BITE and used it to kidnap Gilderoy Lockhart. Because he now had Barty’s face, the Master used it to his advantage, and tortured and raped Gilderoy the same way he had always done to Barty, until Gilderoy broke and lost his mind.
• With the help of Torchwood and UNIT, Barty brought down BITE and, after a long battle, the Master was left in a comatose state and later stored within the Torchwood morgue for safe-keeping because Barty couldn’t bring himself to kill him. While his body was asleep, the Master’s mind was wide-awake, and he took control of Jack Harkness in order to reawaken his body. He then kidnapped the rest of the Torchwood team and held them captive at an old BITE facility until the night of Barty’s wedding anniversary.
• The Master launched a full-out attack on the church where the Lockharts were having their second wedding, and a small war broke out between his followers and UNIT. During all the fighting, the Master kidnapped Barty and took him prisoner beneath the church, where the Master was later killed by Gilderoy Lockhart upon taking his werewolf form.
